Vision of the Work

Uyan Ey Gözlerim is Ayangil's flagship artistic work: complete, fully produced, and publicly released. Its material is the Ottoman sacred and Sufi repertoire preserved in the seventeenth-century collections of Ali Ufkî Bey (Wojciech Bobowski) — music roughly four hundred years old, reaching the present through a written source of unusual completeness for its period.

The work is positioned not as a closed archival object but as a living programme that can be heard today and presented anew. Its availability on digital platforms does not close it to concert presentation, institutional collaboration, or commercial development; it provides a finished foundation for all of them.

Artistic Significance

Ali Ufkî's collections hold a singular place in the history of Turkish music. Set down at a time when the tradition was otherwise carried largely by ear, from master to student, they retain a layer of seventeenth-century practice that would otherwise survive only by inference.

Uyan Ey Gözlerim renders that layer as performed and recorded music rather than as documentary evidence alone. The programme was built as a bridge between scholarly transmission and living performance: the repertoire was prepared and directed by Ruhi Ayangil, with the Ayangil Turkish Music Orchestra and Chorus as its performing body.
